Technologies standards: cBioPortal

cBioPortal (Gao et al., 2013; Cerami et al., 2012) is an interactive tool for exploring large cancer genomics datasets. A public instance of the tool exists at cbioportalorg with many public datasets available for exploration.

Users can upload their own data to the portal if they are happy for it to also be made public. It is also possible to download and install a local version of the software.

The software is open source and available from GitHub. It is developed and maintained by a multi-institutional team based across the US, Canada, Netherlands and Turkey.
